How To Make A Carrot Wreath

Making a wreath out of carrots might sound like a crazy idea. After all, wreaths are traditionally made with pine boughs and other evergreen branches. But carrots can make the perfect, on-trend vegetable accessory in a pinch. The following step-by-step instructions will show you how to make a carrot wreath for your front door this holiday season.

1) CHOOSE YOUR MATERIAL

You will need about 3 large carrots to complete your wreath. Choose hearty carrots with good color and a characteristic carrot smell. Most varieties of carrots will taste just fine on your wreath. The exception to this is yellow carrots, which have a more delicate flavor that is not well suited for cooking or eating raw and may lend to an unpleasant flavor when dried or preserved. These carrots are best left for eating fresh or for another use.

2) SCRUB THE CARROTS

Carrots are grown in dirt, and they can pick up some foreign matter during their growth cycle. To ensure the best results when making your wreath, it’s important to clean them before getting started. Carrots will not hold up well to unpleasant flavors, so you’ll want to remove any scent that might stick with them. Baby carrots are the easiest variety of carrots to clean: simply give them a good scrub under cold running water.

3) REMOVE EXCESS WATER FROM THE CARROTS AND LEAVE THEM IN A WARM AREA (if you plan on using dried cloves for decoration, this is important)

Cleaned carrots soak up water like crazy, so it’s best to remove as much as possible before you begin crafting your wreath. Use a towel or paper towels and squeeze out excess moisture before continuing. You’ll also want to leave your carrots out in a warm area that is free of drafts, like near a window or in a sunroom. This will help your carrots to dry more quickly.

4) PRE-BAKE YOUR CARROTS

Pre-bake your carrots by roasting them in the oven at 350 F for about 20 minutes. This cooks off excess moisture and creates a slightly crispy exterior that will help to hold the fibers of your wreath together. Give them a stir every so often to make sure they are evenly cooked.

5) HANDLE THE HOT CARROTS CAREFULLY

If you are using dried cloves for decoration, it’s important to use gloves so that you don’t burn yourself when handling the hot carrots during this process. Also, be careful of the steam coming off of the carrots while they bake. It might singe some hairs on your forearms, or at least create a sticky mess if it falls onto your clothing.

6) LET THE BAKED CARROTS COOL OFF BEFORE HANDLING THEM

You don’t want to burn yourself when you handle hot, cooked carrots. The best way to avoid this is to let baked carrots cool down completely before handling them. It’s best to wait until they are completely cooled before attempting this step because otherwise, it might be hard for you to identify where one carrot starts and the other ends.

7) STRAND THE BAKED CARROT SLICES

Using a large needle, thread each cooked carrot slice onto a strand of natural twine or fishing line. You can work on each slice individually, or you can work in batches. This is to make sure your twine doesn’t get too heavy and break under the weight of your slices. Gather each strand together at the top and tie it off with a bit of string or add a bow in order to make it presentable.

8) MAKE ABOUT THREE STRANDS FOR YOUR WREATH

The number of strands you have will help determine the size of your wreath. A large wreath can be created by using 3-4 strands, while smaller ones might only require 2-3. The amount of carrots you have also determines how many strands you need to make; work with what you’ve got. Tie them all together once they are completely dry so that they stay together once they’re finished.

9) ASSEMBLE YOUR WREATH

Assembling your wreath is the fun part. Grab the “end” of your strands and slide them down over the top of the first layer of carrots. They should kind of curl in on themselves to form a “U” shape. Continue to do this until you reach the bottom layer, then repeat for the bottom side. Use your gloved hand to gently squeeze each strand up and down in order to form a curve.

10) ADD MORE LAYERS

Continue adding more strands until you’ve got 2-3 layers together. These will make your wreath thicker and more substantial. If you’re using dried cloves for decoration, don’t forget to add them at this point. If you are using fresh parsley or rosemary for decoration, feel free to add them now as well. They will last longer and add a fresh scent to your wreath.

11) PREPARE A BASIN OF WATER

To create the fresh white appearance of this wreath, you’ll want to soak it in water. Fill a basin or bucket with cold or cool water and submerge your wreath. Make sure that it is completely covered by the water; otherwise, the drying process will not work as well. If you do not have enough room for a full-sized wreath, feel free to create more than one at once. Place wet newspapers and towels in between each one so that they do not get tangled while they dry.

12) PLACE A PLATE ON TOP OF THE WREATH AS IT DRIES

A plate or small dish with can be placed on top of your wreath to weigh it down while it is drying. The weight of the plate will help keep your wreath flat and prevent curling once it has dried. Make sure the plate doesn’t have sharp edges or corners; otherwise, you may poke a hole in your drying wreath.

13) ADD A DECORATIVE PIECE AT THE VERY TOP

Add a decorative piece of twine, ribbon, or ribbon-like string at the very top of your wreath. Your options are almost endless here! From simple bows to intricate floral patterns that match your décor, there’s no reason why you can’t personalize your wreath in any way you’d like.

14) LET THE WREATH DRY OUTSIDE

Place your freshly-created carrot wreath on an outdoor drying rack to help speed up the process. A simple wooden dowel that has been propped up against two short stacks of bricks will do the job perfectly for smaller-sized wreaths. If you feel the need to create a wreath that is even a little bit larger, use a tripod and place it directly in the sun.

When it’s dry, you can take your wreath down from the drying rack and place it on a porch or covered overhang to prevent any accidental mishaps like rain or snow. While your wreath is drying, keep it stored away from direct sunlight, where temperatures can get too high for the fibers to be effective.

Once completely dry, hang up your finished carrot wreath in your home as per usual. It will last quite some time if taken care of properly. If your wreath gets too smelled out, you can always freshen it up by spritzing it with a diluted vinegar-water solution.

How To Make A Barn Door On Hinges

Barn doors are uniquely shaped, sliding doors that typically close off a bedroom from the hallway. They are made from a single piece of wood and can be painted or stained to match the décor of your room. The edges are generally rounded and the corners notched to give the doors a classic feel. Barn doors can be hung in a variety of ways depending on personal taste. The most common is with hinges on the top of the door. These are hung directly into wall studs and attached to door stops or latches to help keep the doors from swinging open. Other styles include attaching directly to your bed or bed frame, or installing them on sliding tracks for easy moving around the room.

How to make a barn door on hinges

Below are step-by-step instructions on how to make a barn door on hinges, designed to get you started.

1. Measure the door opening.

Measure the opening of your door first. You will want to make sure that the barn door is a good fit, so measure from both sides of the bottom edge of your wall to determine if you can actually fit your barn door. If you are certain that you can, be sure to cover all areas of the bottom edge with painters tape or other covering material as this can prevent your hinge from sticking out and preventing it from closing evenly. The area directly behind the bottom is a common problem, as well as one or both sides with higher openings, so measure each position.

2. Cut and attach trim pieces at outer edges of opening where required.

If you have an opening that is too large for your door, you can cut and attach trim pieces around the outer edges of your door opening to bring it to the proper size. Typically, you will want to cut off about 1/2 inch on each side of the door to ensure that it fits properly into the space. Be sure to always use a sharp saw if cutting and sanding multiple surfaces.

3. Attach your hinges to the top of your door.

The easiest way to do this is with a power drill. Simply follow the instructions for your hinges and screw them into place on the top of your door. You may have seen that some barn doors have a slot cut out of the corner in order to fit edges, but this isn’t really necessary if you are using a jig saw with standard teeth.

4. Finish and attach to door frame.

Once you have your barn door attached, you can finish the edges with a sanding block, sander, or by applying paint or stain. Once you finish the cutting process on your door, carefully lift it into place and line up the hinges to hold it in position against your wall. You can also use small nails to help hold everything together. Take care when doing this to avoid damaging any sections of the door.

Advantages of hinges on barn door

1. Hinges allow a door to be removed easily

The advantage of hinges is that when you want to remove the door, you simply lift it up and off the hinges. In order to remove your sliding barn door, you would have to remove the tracks from your wall and the mechanism from the bed. There are ways around this, such as using a sliding mechanism on just one side of a wall, but then you would need to remove all of your furniture on that side each time you wanted to use your door. With hinges, all you need to do is lift it off and set it aside.

2. Hinges allow for more access

The other advantage that hinges provide is that you can open the door more easily. With sliding barn doors, you must lift them up and move them away from your wall in order to get to it. With a door that runs on tracks, you would need to turn it completely around. This becomes difficult when your bed or furniture is in the way of the sliding track. With hinges, you simply lift your door up and off the wall instead of pushing it away. Additionally, if you have larger beds or furniture along the walls in front of your door, you may have a hard time opening your sliding barn door at all because you can’t lift it high enough to clear the furniture on both sides. With hinges, you can simply lift the doors up and over the furniture.

3. Hinges are easier to install

The third advantage that hinges have is that they are easier to install than track systems. Since you don’t need to measure anything with a sliding system, it is easier to fit the door in place and ensure that it won’t bind when opened or closed. Additionally, if your wall isn’t perfectly straight like a sliding barn door requires, then you may not be able to slide your door at all without damaging it. With hinged doors, you can adjust them as needed so that they always slide smoothly. Additionally, your door will be more secure than with a sliding system since it can’t come loose while closing.

4. Hinged doors are easier to move

Hinges can also be easier to move. When you have a barn door that is installed on tracks and you want to use it in a room that you don’t have direct access to, or for any reason at all, you will have to remove the hinges from their track and install them on the other side. This is time consuming and annoying. With hinges, this process doesn’t require moving the entire door out of place. Instead, you simply lift the door up and off the hinges. Then you can move it around or remove it entirely as needed.

5. Hinged doors are easier to repair

Hinges are also easier to repair than sliding barn doors because a power drill can be used to install them directly into your brick and wood. This is not a perfect solution, but it is a more reliable option than using a jig saw with standard teeth such as those found on hollow core doors. You may need larger screws if the hinge is going into a thicker material, but this can be done by using rafter screws or other specialty hardware.

Conclusion

Barn doors can change the entire look of your room with just a simple installation. If installed correctly, they will provide you with an elegant, stylish way to keep your space cool and fresh during the warmer months. They are relatively easy to install and require few supplies for the most part. This makes them an ideal option for those unfamiliar with working in their home improvement projects or those looking for a quick accessory to spring up during the summer months.

How To Hang A Horseshoe

Horseshoe is an object a that is shaped like a U with grooves on the inside and curved plates on the outside. It is usually made of metal and used in horse racing, as well as in other sport competitions. The horseshoe is hung on the wall or ceiling of the stadium. It is believed that a horseshoe can bring luck to its holder. The theory behind this belief is when a horseshoe is put upside down, it looks like the letter U, which can be interpreted for the letter ‘U’ for ‘You’. Thus, it can bring good luck to its holder.

How to hang a horseshoe

Below are various ways on how to hang a horseshoe, starting from the easy one to the difficult one:

1. Hang the horseshoe on your wall using a nail.

The horseshoe can be hanged on the wall by using a nail. The nail should be hammered into the wall, and then the horseshoe is put into the space in between it to hang it up. This is a simple way for how to hang a horseshoe. However, you need to hammer in a sturdy nail for it to support your weight, not just any ordinary nails that you can find on everyday objects such as pencils and toothpicks.

2. Put two pegs from both ends of the horseshoe on your wall.

One end of the horseshoe can be hung by putting two pegs from both ends of the horseshoe on your wall. The horseshoe will be hanging on the wall when both the pegs are pushed into the wall. The horseshoe will not be dangling down as there are no nails to hold it.

3. Put a nail into a hole near the top of the horseshoe.

The horseshoe can be hung if you put a nail into a hole near the top of the horseshoe and screw a stick on it. You will not have to use pegs as you can just hang the horseshoe by using the stick and your wall’s nails tightly attached with wood screw with protruding heads. This is also an easy way how to hang a horseshoe on your ceiling or wall, but you will need special tools such as power drill, extension cord and screwdriver in order to use this way of hanging.

4. Hanging a horseshoe on a thin wire.

You can hang your horseshoe on a thin wire by only putting one peg into the wall. It will be easy to walk in front of your horseshoe without touching it, making it look like an ornament instead of a horse race decoration. The reason why you need to put only one peg into the wall is because for two pegs, it will make it look like it is leaning to one side.

5. Drill holes on both ends of the horseshoe.

It is important for you to drill holes on both ends of the horseshoe in order to have a good use for it. There are many ways in which you can drill holes on both ends of the horseshoe, but one way is by using an ice skate screwdriver and drilling bits, which can be found in any hardware stores. The other way is to use a power drill which has an air compressor and hole-saw attachment, as well as a hole-saw attachment, or similar tool that can make different shapes such as circles, semicircles and so on.

6. Using two nails to hang it on your ceiling or wall.

You can hang the horseshoe on your ceiling or wall by using two pieces of nails on both ends of the horseshoe. Make sure that the nails are long enough to hold the weight of your horseshoe. Place them in a circular hole as this will make it look like a horseshoe hanging sideways from the ceiling or wall.

7. Hanging it on a metal beam or pipe with rope.

You can hang your horseshoe on a metal beam or pipe with rope. There is no need to drill holes as you can use rope and a hole cutter to cut the hole on both sides of the horseshoe. You can even use a chain if you do not have any holes on your ceiling or wall as long as it is long enough to hang it. This is an easy way how to hang a horseshoe, but you need to make sure that the pipe or beam will not break as it will be hanging your horseshoe and your weight on it.

8. Put it at the top of a door or wall.

The horseshoe can just be put at the top of a door or wall instead of hanging it. Hanging it is just an option for people who do not have any space on their ceiling or walls, especially if people have a limited space such as in apartments. Hanging the horseshoe is still a common way to spread good luck on both your home and business, even if it is only put at the top of your door or wall. You can use nails to hang it but only long enough to reach the top of the door or wall. Make sure that you make sure that what will hang on the horseshoe is a good luck ritual such as beads, ribbons, horseshoe holder, horseshoe magnets, etc.

9. Hanging it on a hoop for taking photos.

You may hang the horseshoe on a hoop for taking photos, although you can also crawl under it and take photos from your own perspective. This is also a good way to spread good luck around the room as if you have one of those metal hula hoops, then you may have one in your bedroom, office or other rooms of your house. This is not just a horseshoe hanging on wires but an art worth hanging over your door.

10. Hanging it with clothespins.

Some people may just prefer to hang their horseshoe on clothespins so that it will be easy to use and set up. Hanging a horseshoe with clothespins is also a good way to spread luck as people will see the horseshoe hanging around the clothespins.

Conclusion

There are many ways on how to hang a horseshoe around your home, whether you want to hang it on your ceiling or wall. You can always have one hanging over your door in order to bring good luck and prosperity into your life. You will be surprised at how lucky you will be when you start hanging up a horseshoe in your home, whether it is by using nails or any other way of hanging them on your ceiling or walls.

Farm Outhouse Decorating Ideas

When you’re done with nature, it’s time to get ready for the farm stress test: the guests and dinner. Farm outhouses can become a chic and cozy haven for those who need to escape the hustle and bustle. Make your humble outhouse into a comfortable, fashionable place of retreat by making some simple but stylish changes – comfy new decorations, an herb garden, and a little decorative piece of furniture. Bring your favorite colors and designs to help you create a new environment you will love spending some time in. Mixing traditional pigments with modern design elements will bring vintage charm to your animal farm, making it as unique as the farm itself. The following are some of the best farm outhouse decorating ideas:

1. Using wooden pallets:

These are timeless materials that you can use to give more life and style to your animal farm. You can use them as tables and benches or hang them on the walls for an old-time feeling. The best thing about using them is that they will be cheap and will not require your farm to be completely remodeled. You can use your imagination to create and build anything your farm needs without spending too much money. The best part is that they can be painted in any color you like.

2. Hanging a chandelier:

YA chandelier can be an excellent addition to your farm if you want to add color to your décor. You will get a stylish and elegant touch for your farm outhouse when you choose this option. You can put the chandelier in the middle of the room or hang it from the ceiling. This is one of the best farm outhouse decorating ideas because it will make your farm look good and give a touch of elegance to your animal farm.

3. Wall Art:

If you’re having trouble finding the same stuff for your animal farm, you can look for wall art matching your rustic theme. You can choose from different themes and designs, but it is always better to have a piece in mind when you look for wall art or other decorative elements for your farm. If you want to add color to your animal farm, go with the same colors used in your other décor. Express your creativity by painting something on the walls with the colors you like. You can paint the whole wall or just a specific part of it. Do not forget about lighting when working on a new farm outhouse design. Light will make everything look better and more beautiful, so do not forget this aspect when designing an animal’s vacation home from scratch.

4. Make a shelf:

Another great way to decorate the inside of your farm outhouse is by creating a shelf that will hold your favorite small things. You can hang this shelf on one of the walls and use it to display decorative elements like pens, notebooks, keys, etc. Make sure you use only decorative items for the shelf because otherwise, it will not look good. The frame will make the farm outhouse look more organized and help you find what you need in no time.

5. Use a planter:

If you have a space on your farm, do not hesitate to use it for planting some flowers and herbs. Create a tiny garden with beautiful roses that will bring more life to your farm outhouse. You can also add herbs that make a delicious scent in your farm outhouse. The best thing is that you can use any herb or flowering plant for your farm outhouse decoration, so you will not have to buy a specific one.

6. Use rustic décor:

Rustic décor is perfect for those who want to have a beautiful farm outhouse design and create a cozy atmosphere in their animal’s vacation home from scratch. Rustic décor is simple and elegant, making your farm outhouse look more attractive and cozier. You can get rustic décor at any store that sells home décor. Rustic is perfect for farm outhouses as it brings warmth and coziness and gives a contemporary touch.

7. Use natural wood:

Do not forget to add wood to the design of your animal’s vacation home from scratch. You can choose from different types of wood, like pine wood or oak, but it is always better to use a color that matches the rest of your farm. Wood furniture will create a cozy and warm feeling in your farm outhouse and help you relax and feel good after a long day at work.

8. Use lanterns:

Hang some beautiful lanterns on the walls for an excellent farm outhouse decorating idea. Lanterns are of a vintage style that you can also find in many online stores. Lanterns will add some extra color and character to your farm outhouse. To create this kind of farm outhouse design, use rustic lanterns with a simple candle holder. This is a perfect combination for rustic décor. Lanterns can create a cozy atmosphere and make your farm outhouse stand out.

9. Use the same colors:

If you want a farm outhouse that is warm, cozy, and looks good, you should use the same colors in your decorating idea. If you choose more than one color to decorate with, make sure they match each other. Make complementary colors for your animal farm that match the rest of your decor’s elements. The most important thing is that you should choose the colors that you like and feel comfortable with.

10. Use accessories:

Accessories are an excellent way to make your farm outhouse look more attractive and personal. Accessories can be used for several purposes, and the most popular ones are garden ornaments. If you want to make your farm outhouse design more fun, cute and modern, you can choose some accessories that will give it a new look. You can find some adorable birdhouses with birds that will bring joy to your animal’s vacation home from scratch, or use some beautiful paper flower decorations for a fresh touch.

Conclusion

A farm outhouse is an integral part of your farm, and you should treat it with love and care. You can choose from many different options for farm outhouse decoration; all you need is just a little bit of imagination. You will be amazed at how good your farm will look when you start working on a new design.

DIY Farmhouse Scale

Introduction

Building a farmhouse scale might be the perfect project for you if you are seeking a creative way to bring some balance and peace into your life while also using up some unused scrap wood. In this tutorial, we will go over what materials and tools to use, how to make the cracks in the wood stand out so that visually appealing lines are created, how to stain your piece of art and several ways for hanging it on a wall.

In this tutorial we will go over step-by-step how to build a farmhouse scale, so you make sure to have all of the materials listed out before starting.

Materials:

1. 2 pieces of wood, 1-foot long and Â-inch thick (Remember to make sure that your wood is not warped and also cut along the grain)

2. Wood glue

3. Drill with a bit that is slightly smaller than the dowel you will be using.

4. Round dowel or rod for the scale numbers (4 or 5 pieces depending on how big you want your numbers to be)

5. Paint and paint brushes

Tools:

1. A calculator and a tape measure

2. Measuring tape

3. Pencil

4. Wood plane

5. Sandpaper – 400, 600 and 1500 grit sand paper (I used the 400 grit)

6. Clamps (Clamps are not necessary but they will help with the process and also speed it up)

7. Paint thinner and rags

8. Staple gun and staples

9. Sanding block

Step 1: Creating the base frame.

The first step of this project is to build the base frame. To do this, you will want to simply glue and clamp each end of the 2 pieces of wood together. Use your tape measure to make sure that each end is exactly the same length. After making sure that both ends are straight and even with each other, use your wood plane to sand away any extra wood so that it is exactly even with the other side.

Step 2: Predrilling holes for your dowels of numbers.

The second step of this project is to create the frame for the scale numbers. So, you will want to take your long piece of wood and measure out how far apart you want each number on your scale. Next you will want to use your measuring tape and mark off where each number ends. Now that you have drawn where each number will be, use your pencil to mark a dot on either side of each space. Next, take your drill and drill holes in both dots that you just marked off. Finally, take your round dowel rod and insert it into the holes. You will want to make sure that if you are using a wooden dowel rod, that it is a slightly tighter fit in order to keep it straight once the glue dries, but don’t push it in all the way.

Step 3: Gluing the frame together.

The next step of this project is to glue each side of the frame together. To do this you want to line up each end and glue them together. You will want the wood glue to be somewhat on the dry side or else it will shrink into a clump when you are done. Once all of the pieces are glued together, use your clamps and leave it alone for about an hour to dry.

Step 4: Stain and paint

After you have left your frame in the dark for an hour, you will then want to sand each side down with the 400 grit sandpaper. Once all of that is done, you can carefully start staining your piece of art. You will want to use a fairly light stain with a fairly thin paint consistency. You will then want to paint each side with the same color, letting it dry in between coats. After the first coat has dried, you can then apply 2 more coats of the same color until it is completely dry.

Step 5: Mounting your scale (optional)

After your scale has been created and fully dried for about 24 hours, you will then want to mount your scale onto the wall. You can do this in several ways. You can use a nail or screw and just hammer it into the wall with a drill, but it is better to use some sort of picture/wall hanger to keep your piece in place.

Step 6: Mounting your farmhouse scale onto the wall (optional)

After you have mounted your scale onto the wall, you can then hang it on the wall. To do this, you will want to first drill a hole on the back of your craft with your drill so that you can hang it. Next you will want to screw or glue the wood piece onto it. You can find different ways of making sure that all of the numbers are even with each other, but just make sure that they line up before getting too wrapped up in it and screwing everything together.

Step 7: Mounting the Farmhouse scale onto the wall

After you have mounted the farmhouse scale onto the wall, you can then hang it on the wall. To do this, you will first drill a hole on the back of your craft with your drill so that you can hang it. Next you will want to screw or glue the wood piece onto it. You can find different ways of making sure that all of the numbers are even with each other, but just make sure that they line up before getting too wrapped up in it and screwing everything together.

Step 8: Final Product

After you have mounted the farmhouse scale onto the wall, you can then hang it on the wall. To do this, you will first drill a hole on the back of your craft with your drill so that you can hang it. Next you will want to screw or glue the wood piece onto it. You can find different ways of making sure that all of the numbers are even with each other, but just make sure that they line up before getting too wrapped up in it and screwing everything together.

Conclusion

Congratulations! You have finally completed the farmhouse scale. Your next step will be to enjoy the results of your hard work .

HOW TO MAKE A FARMHOUSE PAPER TOWEL HOLDER AT HOME

To make this project a reality with the least effort, start by using a template. Typically, you can outline the borders of the paper towel holder on a piece of paper. It will represent the two sides of the holder and the shelf. Now that you have the template let’s move on with the steps to follow.

* Take the 1X6 board and trace the template in it twice

* After that, use the jigsaw to cut the trace on the wooded piece.

* You have to measure the paper towel roll that you are going to use. In this case, the paper towel holder will be half an inch bigger than the roll. Therefore, you have to take both the 1X2 and 1X4 pieces and cut them to 11 ? inches long.

* If you are thinking about having a little more room when adding a new roll, cut the pieces to 12 inches in length.

* Take the side pieces and measure up to 9 inches from the bottom to the top. You will need measuring tape for this purpose.

* Mark a definite line on the wood. This will be the place where the topmost part of the shelf will be placed.

* Use the drill machine to drill holes on both ends of the 1X2 and 1X4 boards.

* Position the 1X4 board in an upward direction. Make sure it’s 9 inches on the line. Now, secure one of the sides with screws and wood glue. Place the 1X2 board in the bottom back of the same side. Secure the board with screws and wood glue.

* Keep in mind that the pocket holes should stay hidden on the bottom of the boards or the back when you are about to attach them.

* Using the same technique as mentioned above, attach the other side of the holder to make the holder complete.

* Using the paper template, mark the circle on both sides of the paper towel holder. Use the drill machine to make holes in them. Remember that you need to make the holes a bit larger than the screw that comes with the knobs.

* Cut the dowel while ensuring that it is about 1/8 inch shorter than the length of the shelf. Make holes with the drill machine on both ends of the dowel. The holes should have the same size as the screws on the back of the knobs.

* Before moving into the final part, use the stain and seal on the new holder to get the right finish.

* Place the paper towel roll on the dowel.

* Insert one end of the dowel into one side of the holder and place the knob through the hole already made earlier. Screw the knob on one side of the dowel and repeat the same on the other side.

DIY Cowboy Hat Instructions

Cowboy hats are cowboy hats in the United States and Canada, as well as in many other Western countries. Cowboy hats are often worn at rodeos. Cowboy hats were popular among cowboys because they protected them from the sun and rain. Cowboy hats with brims stiffened by wire were introduced in the late 19th century to replace the original soft headgear which had become difficult to shape after years of hard wear.

DIY cowboy hat instructions

Below are instructions on how to make a cowboy hat.

1. Gather your materials.

The materials you will need for this project are:

-Paper

-Scissors

-A pen or marker-Glue and/or tape

-Toilet paper roll or paper towel roll or pencil(for making a pattern)-Black felt(or color of your choice) and scissors.

2. Make your pattern.

You can make your own hat pattern using the instructions on the right. Once you have created a pattern, cut it out and tape it onto the toilet paper roll to create a template for your design. If you are making this hat as a gift, be sure to add the size of the person who will wear it and any other special instructions. (See here for tip on making your own cowboy hat pattern. )

3. Cut out your hat.

Line up the tabs with the eyelets on the toilet paper roll and cut along the marked line. Cut one at a time, cutting in an even direction (vertically down from top of hat to bottom) in order to make sure that each tab is cut accurately and straight. You will also want to make sure that you have a straight edge for your hat pattern to rest against as you cut around it, as well as a straight edge for your hat base-piece (the part of your project that will be covered by the rest of your hat). If there aren’t any straight edges available, you can place them with tape or glue.

4. Remove tabs.

After you have cut out your tab pieces, you will need to remove them from the toilet paper roll. The tabs will be connected at the bottom by a series of small slits. Use a pair of scissors to carefully remove the tabs from the paper roll, cutting from one end all the way around towards your starting point, like you would if you were uncorking a wine bottle.

5. Glue top and bottom tab pieces together to create one large circle with straight edges for your hat base-piece.

You can glue or tape these two pieces together so that they are stuck together firmly. Then wrap your template around this circle with the tabs facing outward (You will want to do this on a hard surface). Once you have wrapped the template around your circle, cut out the top and bottom pieces of the hat base-piece.

6. Use white glue to glue tabs to base-piece.

Before you begin gluing your tabs onto your base-piece, make sure that you have placed about 1/2 inch of toilet paper or paper towels in between each tab. This will give you a softer hat in the end and help prevent any of your tabs from falling off or leaking. You can then use your glue gun to place glue on every other tab hole. Carefully line up your tabs so that they look even and straight. You can then create a border around the edge of your base-piece by gluing down each tab on the outside to create a neat look at the base of your cowboy hat.

7. Create inner support for brim by taping together two toilet paper rolls, cutting out circles and placing them in your finished hat.

You will start by cutting out two circles from brown paper and taping them together, forming one large circle lined with tape inside of it. Then you will place this ring of paper inside of your finished hat (you can use glue on the inside or outside to make sure that it stays in place). Then you will use a marker or pen to create evenly spaced dots around the outside of your inner ring. These dots will mark where to make cuts in order to have a brim. Remove the inner circle and then cut along each dot so that you have tabs. Arrange these tabs so that they are even with each other, creating as smooth of appearance as possible. Then glue these tabs onto the top of your hat for a finished look.

8. Create a felt hat band for your cowboy hat.

If you want to make your hat even more unique, you can create a felt band for the top of your hat. To do this, you will need a roll of black felt and brown or white felt. If you want to make your hat look like it has real leather on it, you can glue the brown or white felt onto the outside of your black one. Then cut out two long strips that are three inches wide and long enough to go around the circumference of your finished cowboy hat (this will be longer than the circumference of the bottom of the brim area). Then create two small strips that are an inch wide and long enough to go around the circumference of your finished cowboy hat. Glue or tape the small bands onto the bottom of the long ones and you will have a felt hat band. Then glue this band onto the top of your hat for a finished look.

9. Decorate your cowboy hat with material from old T-shirts or material that you have at home.

You can use old T-shirts to decorate the outside of your cowboy hat, by cutting out shapes, circles, or letters from them and using them as decoration on your project.

Conclusion

If you are looking for a quick and easy way to decorate a cowboy hat, the DIY cowboy hat is for you. This is a simple project that can be done in less than an hour, making it perfect for last-minute gifts or party favors. This project can also be done using various colors of felt and different patterns of felt to make it your own.
